To Mom:
All your years of La Leche League…how passionate, dedicated you were to bring your breastfeeding & natural birth knowledge, experiences you fought for in the 1950’s, 60’s to guide woman of the 1970’s 80’s. I recently ran into a woman who remembered you being her saving grace with her firstborn 50 years ago, stating you inspired her to eventually become a breastfeeding advocate, labor nurse, and doula. I cherish picking up an awful lot of knowledge from all my childhood years attending regional, state and county meetings, hearing many extensive conversations with affiliated League doctors about medical concerns, etc., or whenever you encountered a mother being told NO breastfeeding by her own doctor, which, I’ve unknowingly passed onto new mothers for 30+ years…many still thank me, but, I always tell them…it’s my mother who taught me and the one to be honored.
