Mary Buchanan was accredited as a La Leche League Leader in August 1974. She led the New Plymouth West group.

Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Rachel & Mike, Felicity, Hana & Mitch, Benjamin, Mathew, Emma, Ruth & Andreas, Joseph & Marama, Kathy; and “Ma Mary” to her mokopuna — Lily, Antonietta, Frances; Henry, Clare, Tusiata, Eleanor, Uma, Matthias & Ahikaea. Eldest of 12 and cherished by her brothers and sister. Loved by all who knew her.
