LLL Leader Laura Miekle from Vernon, British Columbia, Canada, proposed the creation of a Prenatal Initiative Kit.
It will include an online class and a parenting manual for expectant mothers in Canada. The Kit will encourage women to attend LLL meetings during pregnancy and improve breastfeeding outcomes. The mini-grant from Friends of LLL helped get this project up and running.
As part of this project, Laura has submitted over 30 documents to La Leche League Canada for review and is
preparing to rewrite the Parents’ Class Companion. The photo below shows Laura and her daughter, Lily Anjaliya,
compiling the many documents for this valuable Prenatal Initiative Kit.
Subsequently Laura utilized remaining grant funds to develop an online prenatal breastfeeding education class. The program, Latch and Attach, is now available through a third-party online education provider.
